Thanks to all of you who came out for “The Shot Heard Throughout the U.S.“! It was a beautiful day to be out and we made a loud expression of our opinion on the so-called SAFE Act. Clearly we still don’t like it.

“Concord Hymn” by Ralph Waldo Emerson 1837
By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world.
The foe long since in silence slept;
Alike … Continue reading
Thank you to all who came out to the club today to participate in the Shot Heard Around New York and helped to make the day safe and successful! We were privileged to be able to present a gift of $300 to the Ontario Volunteer Emergency Squad as appreciation for their heroic work on September 29th. in rescuing one of our club members during a heart attack, as well as standing by today to support the shooters.
Thank you also to the Wayne County chapter of SCOPE (Shooters Committee on Political Education) for spending the day with us to get the message out to people that they really need to get involved in the political process of our state government and exercise their political right & responsibility to vote!
Today was a fitting expression of our thoughts regarding the New York SAFE Act which was passed by the … Continue reading
Thanks to all of you who made our Philly Cheesesteak lunch such a success today. As of today we have received enough donations to purchase the AED (defibrillator) for placement at the club. There is still room for the purchase of some additional medical supplies and a donation to the Ontario Volunteer Emergency Squad so if you would still like to contribute to this fund please do so soon as this fund will soon be concluded. Thank you especially to Tony M. who worked tirelessly to produce excellent sandwiches for all of us to enjoy (and to Tony’s wife who donated her kitchen last night while Tony prepped the sandwich makings) and to Steve V. for his organizational expertise in bringing this important addition to our club to reality.
This Thursday is the ORGC general membership meeting. There are three proposed changes to club by-laws which will be voted on. If you have an opinion on one or more of these proposals, please come to the meeting and voice your opinion!
#1 – Club members volunteering requirements
#2 – Now offering Life Memberships
#3 – Changes to definition of senior membership
At Thursday’s meeting, Steve requested and received recognition for a new member of the club. Some of you will remember that we were asking for help from anyone who is a mason. We needed to lay a lot of block and concrete to get our new shooter pavilion started with a great foundation. Well Tony Massimi of AJM Masonry answered the call. He donated hours and hours of time and skill to get the pavilion foundation poured and laid, straight and true. And at Steve’s request, Tony was offered a paid membership to the club.
There are many, many more club members who rose the the occasion and put in long hours to get the project moving and we want to thank them all. But Tony went above and beyond and the club thanks him mightily!
Have you tried out an Ultimate Steel shoot at the club yet? We have been holding them on Tuesday evenings, running concurrently with the trap events. Last year they were well attended. This year, not so much. So, we would like to know if anyone has comment on whether Tuesday evening is the best time to hold these events. Are you a handgun shooter who would like to participate in a quick, timed event which will enhance your speed and accuracy? Do you need to practice drawing from your holster? Would you consider participating if the event were held at a different time? Please think about this and click “Leave a Comment” to the right and share your thoughts. Thank you!
Club member Chris Reibert was at the club last Tuesday evening for the first combo night of Trap and Steel shooting. He put together a short video which is a blast. Enjoy!
Apparently there were some issues with viewing this video. I have made a change to its setting. Please feel free to comment if you have any trouble seeing it now.
